Since the 16th century, the successive generations
of the PITRAY family have always endeavored to
harmonize at best tradition with progress, so as to
produce wine whose high quality is recognized
through out the world. Château de Pitray premier
estate wine, produces a deliciously smooth, round
and generous wine that delivers immediate
gratification. Currently 30% of the wine produced
is aged in oak barrels, and in the coming years 50%
of the wine will be oak aged. The Pitray Vineyards
are planted on the clay-limestone plateau of
Gardegan. The varietals of grapes consist of merlot
grapes (75%), cabernet and cabernet franc (25%). The
vines, with an average age of 29 years, total about
36 hectares (65 plus acres) and produce an average
of 240.000 bottles of a great Bordeaux red wine,
carrying the appellation “Côtes de Castillon.” The
doors of PITRAY are open to all those wishing to
learn more about our wine. The present descendants,
Count and Countess de BOIGNE are happy to show their
visitors the fruit of an uninterrupted family
tradition, destined to the production of high
quality wines.
